'Little Women' on stage in Knoxville

May 3–19, 2024 @ Knoxville Children's Theatre

Knoxville Children’s Theatre in partnership with the Clayton Foundation present a live stage adaptation of the beloved children’s novel “Little Women," by Louisa May Alcott and adapted by Gary Peterson. "Little Women" is one of the most widely read novels of all time and named one of the “Top 100 Books for Children” by the National Education Association.

The play is performed May 3through May 19: Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 1 p.m.and 5 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m.

As another Christmas arrives with Mr. March still off at the war front, Mrs. March’s daughters are growing up to be strikingly different from each other. Jo is willful, impulsive, and temperamental, whereas Beth is humble and selfless. Meg does not see a future outside her hometown, whereas Amy dreams of Europe. Jo and Laurence are inseparable in their youth, but which of the “Little Women” will he marry? And if “Laurie” is too conventional for Jo, what kind of man will she end up with? Ripe with life lessons about the change from child into young adult, "Little Women" is a timeless American classic.

The March sisters are portrayed by four veteran KCT performers: Grace Durham plays Jo, Katie Moon portrays Amy, and Beth is played by Ava Reagan. Maggie Clower plays the oldest March sister Meg, while the sisters’ mother, Mrs. March is played by Caroline Scoonover. The girls’ friend Laurence is played by Auguste King and Aunt March will be portrayed by Emma Reagan. Also joining the the cast are KCT veterans Izzy Badgley, Max Hill, Tiger Ladaa, Kyan McCoy, and Tanner White.

The play is directed by KCT student intern, Maddy Grace Payne. The production team includes set designer Cooper Delamain with assistance from Kira Bellamy, Isabelle Bender, Evie Braude, Maggie McNally and Amelie Wrinkle. Elliot Norton will design the lighting and Sam Owens will design and build the costumes with assistance from Eliana Fischmann, Tabi Maanum, and Lyric Westerfield. The properties will be designed by Madisyn Beckman, Percy Cunningham, Corrine Farley, and Evie Strangward. The play’s stage manager is Druig Allen.
