ETSU a cappella ensembles to sing in 'Perfect Harmony'

November 22, 2019 @ First Christian Church

JOHNSON CITY – “Perfect Harmony,” a concert featuring five a cappella ensembles from East Tennessee State University, is presented Friday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson City’s First Christian Church.

These ensembles from ETSU’s Department of Music, which perform music in a variety of genres and styles, include the mixed group Greyscale, directed by Dr. Alan Stevens; Harmonium, a student-led female group; Swashbucklers, a student-led male group; Ascension, a student-led mixed group; and The Buc Five, a student-led barbershop ensemble.

“The program is a mix of pop and jazz a cappella arrangements,” said Stevens, an associate professor and associate director of choral activities in the Department of Music. “It’s the first time we’ve had five a cappella groups on campus, and we are really excited to feature all of them together in the same concert for the first time.”

Each ensemble will perform its own set, and all five groups will join forces in the closer.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $3 for students with ID. First Christian Church is located at 200 E. Mountcastle Drive.
