Independent Filmakers Tour to screen 'Float'

November 18, 2019   |   7 pm @ East Tennessee State University

• NOV. 18: “Float” is shown at 7 p.m. in East Tennessee State University’s Ball Hall Auditorium, Room 127, as part of the South Arts Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers, sponsored by Mary B. Martin School of the Arts. Admission is free and is followed by a Q&A with filmmakers Phil Kibbe and Benjamin Saks and a light reception. It’s a game of microns, milligrams and unlikely heroes as Brett Sanborn and Yuan Kang Lee, two American F1D plane competitors, prepare for and compete at the World Championships. These handmade planes weigh as little as a $1 bill and can fly unaided for over 40 minutes powered by a wound rubber band. Director Phillip Kibbe’s documentary highlights the precise process and art of building these aircraft, the science of how they fly and the glory that patience and a little bit of Zen can bring. Free and open to the public. 423-439-8587, www.etsu.edu/martin
