The Johnson City Public Library hosts a variety of events during the upcoming week.

Thursday, Feb. 27

  • Computer Class: Skills to Succeed(Ages 18+) 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn basics of internet, email and social media for career networking and applying for jobs.
  • 2020 Census Job Recruitment(Ages 18+) 3-5 p.m. Info table and Census Bureau representatives set up in lobby to talk about censusjobs.
  • Spanish-InglésConversation(All ages)6-7 p.m. All language skill levels, converse with Spanish and English speakers. Hablarcon hablantesdeinglésyespañol, paratodos nivelese e dades.

Friday, Feb. 28

  • Teen Writing Club(Ages 12-18) 3:30-4:30 p.m. Work on creative writing projects in teen area, learn how to get work published on Library website.

Saturday, Feb. 29

  • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (Ages 18+) 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Receive tax prep help from IRS-certified volunteers, register for one-hour session at tusculum.edu/vita, call (423) 302-0441 with questions.

Monday, March 2

  • Tale to Tail(Ages 5-9 & caregivers) 4-5, 5:15-6:15 p.m. Register for 15-minute time slot to read to trained listening dog.
  • Bilingual Family Math & Science Storytime / LosCuenta Cuentosde Historias Bilingües de Ciencias y Matemáticas(Ages 3-5 and families) 6:30-7 p.m. Stories introducing math and science concepts are presented in Spanish and English.(Niños de 3 a 5 años y están diseñadas) 6:30-7 p.m. Las historias que introducen conceptos de matemáticas y ciencias se presentan en español e inglés.

Tuesday, March 3

  • Toddler Time(Ages 18-36 months and caregivers) 10:15-10:45 a.m.
  • Preschool Story time(Ages 3-5 years and caregivers) 11-11:30 a.m.
  • VA Homeless Programs Assistance(Ages 18+) 12:30-1:30 p.m. VA community outreach social worker available to talk with U.S. veterans about short- and long-term housing programs.
  • You and Your Health: Nutrition(All ages) 1-4 p.m. Info table set up in lobby.
  • Taller Literario / Spanish Literary Club(Ages 18+) 6-7 p.m. Must have at least intermediate skill level, discussions in Spanish of classic and modern Spanish literature, registration required.(Mayores de 18 años) 6-7 p.m. Debe tener al menos habilidades intermedias, discusiones en Español de literatura Española clásica y moderna, se require registro.
  • Teen Book Club(Ages 12-18) 6-7 p.m. Discuss "Neanderthal Opens the Door to the Universe"by Preston Norton, registration required.
