Paige Hernandez presents one-woman show

• JAN. 17: “Paige in Full,” a one-woman performance by Paige Hernandez, is in the Kennedy~Reedy Theatre at Emory & Henry College, Emory, Va. Known for her effective fusion of theater, hip-hop, dance and education, multidisciplinary artist Hernandez performs a visual mix-tape that blends poetry, dance, visual arts and live music to tell the tale of a multicultural girl growing up in Baltimore, Md. The production explores how a young woman’s identity is shaped by her ethnicity and popular culture, telling a personal, yet universal, story through the lens of hip-hop. A critically acclaimed actor, director, dance and hip-hop advocate, Hernandez has received an Individual Artist Award from the Maryland State Arts Council, two Helen Hayes nominations for choreography and performance, a “40 under 40” award by Washingtonian magazine, “Six Theatre Workers You Should Know” recognition from American Theatre magazine, a “Citizen Artist Fellow” at the Kennedy Center, and a “Rising Leader of Color” award from Theatre Communications Group. $17-25. 276-944-4121,
