• OCT. 24: The Feast of Your Life is held from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center and Marketplace, Abingdon, Va. Food and its role in life and culture provides the inspiration for this memoir writing and art workshop. The focus in on accessing food memories using writing exercises. Using vivid writing, and form and color, attendees use words and drawing, painting and collage to respond to memories and sensations. Chef Charles Parker provides snacks and lunch for inspiration. Miriam Sauls teaches the memoir writing and Vernessa Foelix teaches the visual arts portion. $150 (includes all supplies, snacks and lunch) Register at swvaculturalcenter.com.
