Storytelling Live!, the International Storytelling Center's teller-in-residence series, kicks off its season May 6 in Jonesborough, Tenn. Storytelling Live! features 26 of America's best-loved storytellers, one each week, May through October.

Each teller appears in matinee performances Tuesday through Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Mary B. Martin Storytelling Hall. Special evening performances, children's concerts and Christmas holiday shows are offered also.

Storyteller Bil Lepp of West Virginia begins the season May 6-10. Lepp is an internationally-known storyteller, author and recording artist, whose style has been described as a satisfying blend of Bill Cosby and Jeff Foxworthy. A five-time champion of the West Virginia Liars' Contest, his outrageous tall-tales and witty stories are welcomed by audiences of all ages. Lepp has been featured at venues across the nation, including an appearance on Comedy Central. He is the recipient of the NSN ORACLE Circle of Excellence award. Lepp also offers a special evening concert Thursday, May 8 at 7:30 pm.

Sheila Arnold of Virginia appears during the second week of Storytelling Live!, May 13-17. Arnold has been a full-time storyteller since 2003, traveling throughout the country sharing her stories and songs, historic character presentations, Christian monologues and professional development for educators. Known for her interactive style, Arnold has performed at several festivals including the National Storytelling Festival, where she was both an Exchange Place teller and second place winner in the Story Slam.

Quiet Riot from Pennsylvania performs May 20-24, with a special children's concert on Saturday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m. The Quiet Riot's collection of life experiences has inspired their repertoire. Namely, the brothers have circled the globe, led rock climbing expeditions, commanded USAF satellites, worked on off-shore oil rigs, directed a wilderness school and studied acting, mime, jazz, modern dance, ballet and motivational psychology and more. Bill and David Mettler use comedy, music and sound effects for their programs, which they've presented at various venues, including Lincoln Center.

Rounding out the first month May 27 – 31 is Spencer Bohren of Louisiana. Performer, songwriter, educator and virtuoso guitarist, Bohren travels the world sharing his great love for America's traditional folk, blues, gospel and country music. Born in wind-swept Casper, Wyo., Bohren's gospel singing parents provided the foundation of a musical style and celebrated career that remains vibrant decades later. From festival stages in America to concert halls all over Europe, listeners are charmed by his stories and music resonating with the ambience of the rivers, roads, and bayous of the American South.
