Bristol Ballet announces a full slate of summer programming

May 25, 2021

Bristol Ballet announces a full slate of summer programming in June. This includes summer camps suitable for younger students, and intensives for those with a bit of experience, at various skill levels. Bristol Ballet is excited to offer summer programming for everyone this year after last summer’s camps were canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

There will be plenty of fun to be had in the Bristol Ballet studios this summer, held safely while following Covid-19 state guidelines. The ballet has been able to operate safely in person since last August and continues to offer dance instruction to the community.

The programming starts with a summer intensive for intermediate and advanced students. This is held from June 7 to June 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday. It features special guest instructor Bruce Ewing, a master teacher from Knoxville, Tennessee, and a favorite of dance students across the region. Ewing studied at Joffrey Ballet, Houston Ballet, Chicago Repertory Dance Ensemble, and is an RAD certified ballet instructor, passing his RAD exams with honors. Classes are offered in ballet, pointe, jazz and contemporary/modern. The intensive is open to all qualified dancers, no matter where they currently study.

There are also offerings for younger children of all ages. A dance camp for children ages 3-6 follows a Princesses and Pirates theme. Young dancers learn how to move to music inspired by princesses and pirates and learn some basic ballet steps.

Dancers will also be treated to arts and crafts that fit the theme. All children ages 3-6 are welcome to this camp, regardless of previous dance experience. This camp runs from June 14 to June 18, from 9:30-11 a.m. each weekday. Tuition is $95 per child for the week and includes craft supplies.

The fun continues with a Princesses and Pirates themed camp for ages 7-9. Beginners are also welcome to this camp. In addition to arts and crafts projects and learning movement to princess and pirate themed music, dancers also have more structured classes in ballet, jazz/contemporary. This camp runs from June 14-18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each weekday. Tuition is $125 per child for the week, including craft supplies.

Finally, Bristol Ballet’s summer programming offers a mini-intensive for dancers aged 10-12. This will be a preview of a full intensive for younger intermediate dancers. It will include classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary and pre-pointe. This mini-intensive runs from June 14 to June 18 from 2-5 p.m. each weekday, and tuition is $200 per child for the week. Some dance experience is recommended for this level.
