"Color Me Bad: Animation, Pop, Satire" at William King Museum features three artists who grew up in Abingdon, Va. The show will be on display March 9-August 5.

According to exhibit curator Leila Cartier, the trio "grew up at the end of the twentieth century with color televisions and new-media saturation, yet surrounded by traditional cultural artifacts of Appalachia. The exhibit focuses on "humor and social critique in their art in imaginative and inventive types of animation and graphic imagery. Collectively, the work offers an unexpected narrative about a new generation of artists and what it means to be from this unique region."
