ETSU Digital Media Students Win ADDY Awards

JOHNSON CITY, TN - East Tennessee State University digital media students and faculty were recognized at the 2012 American Advertising Federation (AAF) Northeast Tennessee ADDY Awards ceremony held recently at the Johnson City Country Club.

Joseph Riner, a recent ETSU graduate, took home two gold and two silver ADDY awards, as well as the Student Best of Show for his "Wayne Quasar and the Solar Flares" poster.

• Gold ADDYs were also presented to ETSU students Isaac Caraway and Jessica Burns. Silver awards went to Inga Sarkodie; the "Vertigo" team of Christina Sturgill, Alex Morton, Kaylee Coffey, Franck Doumbe and Jessica Burns; and the "ETSU Manufacturing" team, consisting of Christian Wenzel and Matt McMillan.

The categories of the winning work included digitally enhanced photography, digital illustration, graphic design, package design and animation.

Jon Hounshell, a faculty member in the digital media program, along with students Seth Alley, David Mowell and Logan Hibbits, won a gold ADDY in the professional division for the Blue Plum Animation Festival poster. Hounshell also won a silver ADDY for the promotional postcard for the ETSU master's degree program in new media studio.

Student and professional works winning gold awards will go on to compete in the regional stage of the AAF national ADDY competition. The ADDYs are the advertising industry's premier creative contest.
