'From These Hills' is on exhibit at William King

December 26, 2023

“From These Hills: Contemporary Art in the Southern Appalachian Highlands” is one of the most prestigious art exhibitions in the region and one of the longest-standing traditions of the William King Museum of Art in Abingdon, Virginia.

This year marks the 16th biennial at the museum which features 28 artists who live and work in Southern Appalachia.

This year’s juror and guest curator was Ali Printz, who is studying the exclusion of Appalachian art in modern and contemporary American art while in a doctoral program at Temple University in Philadelphia.

The three feature artist profiles in this issue represent a small sample of the wide-ranging art that can be found in this exhibition which runs through Feb. 4.
