A new music series, Honky Tonk Nights, starts in May at Blue Ridge Comedy Club, Bristol, Tennessee.
Blue Ridge Comedy Club is turning up the twang with a monthly honky tonk music and dance series that’ll have you two-steppin’ all night long. Nestled near downtown State Street in Bristol, this series brings the best in boot-scootin’ classic country and more straight to the stage. Each month the offer rotating honky tonk and country bands performing. New to partner dancing? You can come early to the half hour of partner dance lessons before the live music every month and even hear the ‘Star-O-Sonic Record Club’ listening party before the show.
The first concert in the series is held May 29 and features Vaden Landers. The Star-o-Sonic Record Club begins at 6:30 p.m. The dance lesson begins at 7:30 p.m. and the concert is at 8 p.m. Landers is a 30-year- old artist weaving a tapestry of melodies that harken back to the golden era of country music. His journey began as a train-hopping troubadour and street-busker, crafting songs that resonate with the very soul of Americana.
Affectionately dubbed “The Yodeling Country Bluesman,” Landers has etched his name into the vibrant streets of Asheville, North Carolina. His authenticity shines as a torchbearer of the classic country tradition, infused with a contemporary spark. With an eclectic fusion of honky-tonk, rockabilly, folk, blues, ragtime, jazz, western swing and old-time Appalachian influences, Landers emerges as a pioneer breathing new life into the traditional country music scene. His performances at various music festivals, including the illustrious WoodyFest and the renowned Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, have left audiences enraptured.
Each month also features a different rootin’ and tootin’ western related contest. In Maym it is the biggest belt buckle contest.
Blue Ridge Comedy Club will have alcoholic drinks available to those 21 and up with a valid ID.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at www.blueridgecomedy.com or at the door the night of the show. The 30-minute pre-show dance lesson is by donation.
Other concert dates are, June 19, July 24, Aug. 28, Sept. 25 and Oct. 23.
