Kingsport Ballet adds performance to 'The Nutcracker' schedule

November 24, 2025

Kingsport Ballet presents a world of enchantment with its annual production of “The Nutcracker,” Dec. 11–14, at the Ballad Health Performing Arts Center, Blountville, Tennessee.

Each year, “The Nutcracker” continues to invite audiences to follow Clara while she and her Nutcracker dance through her dream, featuring dolls who come-to-life, action-packed battle scenes, snowflakes glistening across the stage, and exciting pieces inspired by cultures across the world. Staged by Artistic Director Leonid Flegmatov, this timeless holiday classic features one-of-a-kind costumes, hand-crafted sets and professional training that bring Tchaikovsky’s famous score to life.

In response to growing demand, Kingsport Ballet has added a fourth public performance this season, offering even more opportunities for families to make this tradition part of their holiday celebrations. “We have returned to our pre-Covid audiences and have expanded our offerings to accommodate them,” said Executive Director Bertina Dew.

“We are really looking forward to another great season and are excited to share our productions with the community,” said Flegmatov. “It is always rewarding to be able to feature our own student company and professional company dancers in lead roles. Our audiences love watching local talent on the stage,” he explained.

For younger children, Kingsport Ballet also presents Clara’s Tea Party Saturday, Dec. 13, a charming gathering where little ones can enjoy tea and treats while meeting some of their favorite Nutcracker characters up close.

Tickets are available at Kingsport Ballet.org.

Kingsport Ballet is funded in part for Partnership Support by the Tennessee Arts Commission under an agreement with the General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts. Outreach programs are made possible by support from the City of Kingsport.
