MCA Gallery features photographs by Steven Benson

December 26, 2022

An exhibition of photography based on the idea of transformation opens in January at the McGlothlin Center Art Gallery at Emory & Henry College.

The exhibition by Steven Benson, entitled “The Aesthetics of Transformation,” opens Jan. 11 and runs through Feb. 4. An Artalk led by the artist begins at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 11 in the Kennedy-Reedy Theatre of the McGlothlin Center for the Arts.

Through the medium of photography, Benson creates images that “explore the activities and artifacts associated with the process of transforming the landscape by an enormous infrastructure project,” according to the artist. That transformation recalls rumors of a former civilization, conflating past, present and future in a single moment.

The exhibition and Artalk are free and open to the public.
