Meet Adriana Trigiani at fundraiser

June 26, 2018

The Friends of the Washington County Public Library present a celebration of one of Southwest Virginia’s most acclaimed writers with “An Evening with Adriana Trigiani” Thursday, July 26, from 6-9 p.m. at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, Virginia.

“I am really happy to be appearing for this library event with my sister Mary Trigiani who co-wrote ‘Cooking with my Sisters.’ She will have her insights and bring her hilarious points of view to the evening. I’m very excited about that,” Trigiani says.

The event consists of a special Italian meal inspired by the new cookbook. There will be book sales and signings, music from the movie “Big Stone Gap” and an entertaining talk by Adriana.

There will be a special VIP event before the dinner where guests meet Adriana and Mary Trigiani, enjoy a wine bar reception with special hors d’oeuvres and photo opportunities.

Adriana Trigiani has become much beloved around the world for her novels, including the “Big Stone Gap” and the “Valentine” trilogies, “The Shoemaker’s Wife,” “Lucia, Lucia,” “All the Stars in the Heavens” and the recent “Kiss Carlo.”

Trigiani notes, “If there is one thing I hope my books do always and forever, it’s that they honor working people.” She wrote and directed the film adaptation of “Big Stone Gap,” shot in her hometown, which starred Ashley Judd, Patrick Wilson, Jenna Elfman and Whoopi Goldberg.

This spring she is in Scotland directing Kathie Lee Gifford and Craig Ferguson in “Love Me to Death.”

Tickets to the main event are $50. Tickets to the VIP reception are $100. Tickets can be purchased online at www.wcpl.net.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Washington County Public Library, Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center and New Peoples Bank. Proceeds support the services of the Washington County Public Library System.
