Nominations Sought for Outstanding Women in the Tri-Cities

December 19, 2006

The YWCA is seeking outstanding women throughout the Tri-Cities to be considered for the YWCA's annual Tribute to Women banquet this spring. Each day in the Tri-Cities, our communities are supported and strengthened by women devoted to enriching the quality of life for others.

Every year, the YWCA sets aside a night to honor these individuals and their many contributions to the artistic, cultural, educational and charitable areas of our lives.

Businesses, clubs, civic groups, churches, schools and corporations may nominate up to three women who have made significant contributions in the areas of art, education, business and community service. In 11 years, more than 1200 women have been honored through a nomination for Tribute to Women. This year, for the first time, nominations will be open to the entire Tri-Cities region. The Bristol facility is the only YWCA from Knoxville to Roanoke and serves women, children and families throughout the area.

You can help us discover and applaud outstanding women by nominating them for the 2007 Tribute to Women Award. Women who reside or are employed in Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol, Abingdon or their surrounding communities are eligible. Nomination forms may be picked up at the YWCA, 106 State Street, Bristol, TN; or may be accessed through the YWCA website, www.ywcabristol.org. The deadline to submit nominations is Feb. 15, 2007.
This year's committee is under the leadership of Chair Kitty Williams, Associate Professor of Nursing at Virginia Highlands Community College, and Co-Chair Suzanne Rollins, Director of Clinical Services for Wellmont, Bristol Regional Medical Center.
