Paper Windows program opens with an exciting start

March 19, 2017

BRISTOL, VA - The first session of the Paper Windows project is complete and the winning entries posted.

"This session was titled "Hidden Hearts' and ran from Jan. 30-Feb. 21. We had a wonderful response with 10 entries," said project manager Brittany Fleenor. "Each picture was unique in composition, giving the judges a wide range of choices."

The first place photograph was shot by Donna Tallman; the title of her piece was "Falling for You." She had spotted a leaf on the walking trail at Steele Creek Park in the fall. It was a subtle reminder to exercise in order to take care of your heart and health.

The second place winner was Jared Norris who entered a photograph of colorful blocks shaped as a heart and titled "Heart of Blocks." Third place was taken by James Martin Keith with a photograph titled "Heart on a String" and consisted of a floral heart valentine by the road.

The photographs are posted on the city's Facebook page and website, bristoltn.org. "Each month as the winners are selected they will be posted on the city's social media platforms as well as being featured on the city's government channel, BTES Channel 16 and Charter Channel 192," Fleenor said.
