David Hendricksen was appointed conductor of The Civic Chorale in January 1998. He received a Bachelor of Music in organ performance and music education from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn. The Master of Music and Doctor of Arts in music degrees were earned at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. Prior to joining the faculty of Tusculum College in 1988, Hendricksen taught at Freeman Junior College in South Dakota and at Ball State. He was the founding conductor of the Tusculum College Youth Choir and founded the Tusculum College Community Chorus. In January 2001, he assumed leadership of the Walters State Community Chorale in Morristown, Tenn. Hendricksen is director of music ministry at
First Presbyterian Church in Greeneville, Tenn. He has made presentations regarding the philosophical rationale for including the arts in education and the development of vocal artistry in young people at the annual Arts in Education conference in Johnson City, Tenn. His vocal students have won music scholarships at various colleges, sung with the Knoxville Opera Company and performed in the region.
Lisa Runner is an assistant professor of music education in the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from Milligan College, Master of Artsdegree in media services from East Tennessee State University, and the Doctor of Education degree from Appalachian State University. She has been a member of the Civic Chorale since 1980 and has served as accompanist since 1996.

David Runner
has been professor of organ and music theory at Milligan College since 1972. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Boise State University, Idaho, as a student of C. Griffith Bratt. He received Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in organ performance from Eastman School of Music, Rochester, N.Y., studying under David Craighead. European organ study included work with Marie-Claire Alain, Louis Robilliard and
Michael Radulescu. In addition to serving as organ accompanistnfor The Civic Chorale, he presents organ/lecture recitals at Milligan College and in the surrounding area and is a member of the American Guild of Organists.
