The Henderson offers regular classes

The Henderson School in Marion, Virginia, offers several classes and workshops each week. They plan to add classes as The Lutherie and wood shop are equipped.

Current classes include the following.

Uncorked! Painting Parties are offered two Fridays a month. In February, there are two couple's painting parties Feb. 12 and Feb. 13 from 7-10 p.m. The Henderson School provides the studio space, painting supplies and the expert instruction; participants bring the party.

Henderson JAM (junior Appalachian musicians) is open to fourth through eighth grade Smyth County students. Instruction in fiddle, banjo or guitar is offered as an after school program on Tuesdays.

Colorific! Adult Coloring Class is taught by Jack "JaRaTa" Taylor. Taylor is the school's Artist in Residence and helps participants understand color, coloring techniques using Prismacolor Color Pencils and different
patterns for doodling. This class is an open studio class offered Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m., and is $10.
Open Watercolor is on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is taught by Catherine Poole. This class is an open studio and is $10 per person.

Quilt Guild meets on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Open Oil Painting is Tuesdays from 1-4 p.m., and is taught by Bepe Kafka. This class is an open studio and is $10 per person.

Two Letterpress Workshops are held Feb. 27 and 28. Saturday's workshop is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday's workshop runs from 1:30-6 p.m. Limited to six participants per class. $65. www.thehenderson.org
The school plans to establish a Fiber Arts Guild for weaving, felting and spinning.
