Turn Out for the Cure at The Paramount Center

August 27, 2019

Susan G. Komen of East Tennessee and The Highlands Ballet present their second annual gala fundraiser and performance. The community is invited to “Turn out for the Cure” to make a difference for those in the community who are battling breast cancer – while supporting the performing arts. A $50 contribution includes admission, desserts and drinks, live and silent auctions, and performances of short works by the dancers of the Highlands Ballet Company.

The evening’s entertainment begins with excerpts of original choreography from Highlands Ballet’s repertoire – “Love & Purity,” “La Barre” and two new pieces choreographed by Jeffrey Rockland and Bruce Ewing. If you missed the Virginia Highlands Festival premiere of “The Wolf Crystal,” a presentation of this immersive theater experience is performed. In addition, the company presents a sneak preview of selected pieces from “The Nutcracker,” coming in December and pieces from “Magic Butterfly,” a collaboration with composer Evelyn Pursley-Kopitzke and the Paramount Chamber Players.

During the evening, patrons can bid on auction packages including trips, event tickets and other luxury items. Everyone can enjoy refreshments donated by award-winning local bakeries, restaurants and breweries.

Susan G. Komen East Tennessee’s mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our community and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.

Highlands Ballet, located in Abingdon, Virginia, provides support and inspiration for young and aspiring dancers in a wholesome and friendly atmosphere.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. Stage production begins 7:30 p.m. Children under 12 may attend free with accompanying paid adult ticket. Call the Box Office at (423) 274-8920 to reserve a ticket.
