VHCC offers multiple music classes for the public

Virginia Highlands Community College, Abingdon, Virginia, offers several music classes beginning in January. All these classes are available for credit or personal enjoyment.

Community Choir (MUS 132-01) meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30-1:45 p.m. It meets in the music studio (MEC room 114) from Jan. 18 through May 12.

This class is called MUSC 330123-WD90 ($80) through Workforce Development. Email vthomas@vhcc.edu if you want it for personal enjoyment instead of for credit. Open to everyone, all ages and skill levels.

Class Piano (MUS 141-01) meets Tuesdays from 12:30-1:45 p.m. in ISC 136. Class starts Jan. 17.

This class is called MUSC 330121-WD40 ($96) through Workforce Development. Email vthomas@vhcc.edu if you want it for personal enjoyment instead of for credit. Open to all ages and skill levels.

Old-Time String Band (MUS 150-01) meets Mondays 4-5:45 p.m. Class meets in the music studio (MEC room 114) beginning Jan. 23.

This class is MUSC 330122-WD90 ($80) through Workforce Development. Email vthomas@vhcc.edu if you want it for personal enjoyment instead of for credit. Open to all ages and skill levels. Mandolin, upright bass, guitar, banjo, fiddle, lap dulcimer, autoharp, ukulele and baritone ukulele are welcome. Contact VHCC before classes start if you want to borrow an instrument for use during the class.

Concert Band (MUS249) meets with the Emory & Henry College concert band at E&H, Emory, Virginia. They rehearse Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30-1:20 p.m. Open to brass, woodwind and percussion players.
