Knoxville Children’s Theatrepresents a live musical production of Disney’s “Aladdin, Jr.” The play is performed Feb. 16through March 3, Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Disney’s "Aladdin Jr." is based on the 1992 Academy-Awardwinning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show. Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omarand Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character.
The play is performed by 24young actors from ages 9 to 17. Aladdin is played by KCT veteran Connor Watters with Jasmine played by KCT veteran Olivia Birkbeck. Genie is played by Tinsley Clinton with Adelle Fox as Jafar, Patrick Harrison as Babkak, Marion Field as Iago, Lena Kennedy as Razoul, and Maggie Lamb as Raja. Quinton Stiffler portrays Prince Abdullah. They are joined by KCT veterans Tessa Arwe, Chloe Beeler, Weston Bucher, Desmond Gondo, Allison Lovedayand Isabella Summers.
Making their KCT debuts in this production are Jase Farrington, Griffin Gilbert, Mason Johnson, Beckham Read, Afton Schuh, Benjamin Ward, Jesse Watsonand McKenna Webb. The show is directed by KCT Artistic Director Dennis E. Perkins. The Musical Director is Teresa Seals and the Choreographer is Donya Walker. The play is designed by young student designers from ages 10 to 17. KCT veterans Emma and Ava Reagan provide the scenic design with PJ Copeland providing the lighting design. Janie Long and Aubree Jones design and build the costumes with assistance from Luna Chavez and Tabi Maanum. The prop masters are Lily Hungate, Layne Templeton and Fin Jump. The play’s stage manager is Delaney Rickman.
