MOUNTAIN CITY TN -The Johnson County Center for the Arts has put together a few creative classes that will help you and a loved one celebrate the upcoming St. Valentine’s Day.
On Saturday, Feb. 7 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. artist Paige Janeri teaches Heart of Glaze, a fun hands-on pottery glazing workshop. During this two-hour class, participants select a handmade pottery piece, choose glaze colors, and learn basic glazing and decorating techniques. Each pottery piece is one-of-a-kind, wheel-thrown in Mountain City by Janeri and ready for you to make it your own. The workshop is designed for both beginners and experienced makers and is a way to create something meaningful together. The workshop is held at the Art Education Center on College St, Mountain City, Tennessee. The class fee is $15 per participant, but family bundle discounts are available. Unglazed pottery pieces are purchased separately and range in price from $10 to $30. Finished glazed pieces will be ready for pickup the following weekend on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, Feb. 14.
There are three special classes scheduled for Saturday, February. 14. You can enroll in Jason Hughes’Leather Roses Workshop for ages 8+ and create three colorful roses to keep or give to someone you love. This class runs from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Gallery on Main classroom.The $35 fee includes all materials.
Bring the whole family for some delicious fun and Decorate a Valentine Cookie with Miss Carol Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free drop-in activity is open to all ages and will be held at Johnson County Center for the Arts’Gallery on Main.
The Heart of Glaze: Date Night Edition is scheduled for Saturday, February 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is a fun way for couples to spend the Valentine’s Day evening. This cozy, adults-only event is perfect for couples, friends, or any pair looking for a unique experience. During this glazing workshop participants select one-of-a-kind pottery, choose glaze colors, and learn glazing and decorating techniques. No experience is needed—just bring your favorite person and enjoy making something meaningful together. The workshop isheld at the Art Education Center, and the class fee is $25 per couple. Unglazed pottery pieces are purchased separately and range in price from $10 to $30. Finished glazed pieces are ready for pickup the following weekend, Saturday, Feb. 21.
