December 7, 2019   |   4 pm @ Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church

East Tennessee State University’s Holiday Choral Concert, “Amid the Winter’s Snow,” ispresented Saturday, Dec. 7, with two performances at 4 and 7:30 p.m. at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 E. Market St.

The ETSU Chorale, Greyscale, BucsWorth men’s choir and East Tennessee Belles women’s choir present an evening filled with music from various holiday traditions, as they have done for over 50 years. They will be joined by the Munsey Church Handbell Choir, guest organist Joshua Sumter, and faculty and student musicians from the ETSU Department of Music.

The program includes works from such composers as Kirke Mechem, Craig Courtney, Eric Whitacre, Daniel Knaggs, Felix Mendelssohn, Mark Hayes and more. There will be familiar holiday carols, as well as new choral works.

The ETSU choirs are conducted by Drs. Matthew Potterton and Alan Stevens, along with Kathryn E. May. Potterton chairs the Department of Music and is director of choral activities, and Stevens serves as associate director of choral activities. May retired in 2017 from 37 years as a public school teacher and is now an adjunct instructor at ETSU.

Seating is limited for both performances, and advance ticket purchases are recommended. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students, and are available online at www.etsu.edu/music.
