Join the Highlands Youth Ensemble as they present their annual musical revue, “On the Road.”
Come hear favorite songs from Broadway, the movies, pop and American standards as the Highlands Youth Ensemblepresents this concert benefiting all the choirs of the Mountain Empire Children's Choral Academy.There is also be an online auction starting Feb.15.
“You are not going to believe how great these kids are," says Artistic Director Jane DeLoach Morison. “They are ready to entertain you with songs you know and love. And this year we have a new twist as our fabulous young emcees have written a story in word and song that will take you ‘on the road' with us."
The ensemble performs Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. at Seeger Chapel,MilliganUniversity, Johnson City, Tennessee. The second performance is Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m., on Barter Theatre's Gilliam Stage, Abingdon, Virginia.

The Highlands Youth Ensemble was founded by Artistic Director Emerita Beth Perkinson McCoy in 2002 as an outgrowth of the East Tennessee Children’s Choir. Notable performances include concert tours of Hungary, Greece, Ireland and France where they were honored to sing at the American Cemetery in Normandy as part of the 80th anniversary commemorations of the D-day landings.They have also sung three times at Carnegie Hall, and return there in June for a spotlight solo concert and a collaborative performance.Auditions for the ensemble are held in the summer, and any high school singer from East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia is eligible.
