Jazz Ensemble to present 'Holiday Music' concert

JOHNSON CITY – “Holiday Music” is the theme of the fall concert by the East Tennessee State University Jazz Ensemble, which is held Saturday, Nov. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at First Christian Church, 200 E. Mountcastle Drive.

The Jazz Ensemble performs big band arrangements of favorite Christmas tunes to kick off the season, joined by renowned saxophonist Dan Hitchcock.

Hitchcock, originally from Columbus, Ohio, is also a multi-instrumentalist and educator with a love for many musical genres. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, where he completed his degree in jazz studies. He is on the faculty of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem.

Hitchcock performs with his own jazz quartet and numerous other ensembles. He has also appeared with the renowned Glenn Miller Orchestra and a variety of symphony and jazz orchestras.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors and free for students with ID. All proceeds benefit scholarships and program funding for students of the ETSU Department of Music.
