Lunch on the Lawn is held

BIG STONE GAP, Va.-The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park hosts its next “Lunch on the Lawn” summer music series Sunday, July 7, from 2 to 3 p.m., featuring the Hillbilly Hippies.

The Hillbilly Hippies are a mountain music string band that is very proud of their Appalachian roots. They perform a wide variety of music and have performed at several local venues in the area. Members include Dawn Bays on fiddle, Mary Lou Carter on banjo, Larry Mullins on guitar, Les Bailey on bass and Joey O’Quinn on banjo. The Hillbilly Hippies have a wonderful way of mixing old-time tunes, '70s soft rock, country ballads, bluegrass standards and folk songs into a unique show.

Park staff and volunteers will have crafts and activities for children at each “Lunch on the Lawn” program. So, bring the whole family out, have some fun in the beautiful Victorian Garden and enjoy an afternoon of home-grown music and entertainment on thelawn of the museum.

The “Lunch on the Lawn” event is free and open to the public. Participants should bring their lunch.
