Midsummer Social is held

A Midsummer Social, presented byRose Center's Artists Advisory Council, returnsFriday, July 11,for an evening of creativity, music and community,all in support of youth arts education at Rose Center. This annual fundraiser invites guests to enjoy an artfully curated experience featuringlive jazz,artist demonstrations,freshly prepared hors d’oeuvres, and a lineup ofsilent and live auction items. As a special tradition, ticket holders leave with a unique, original piece of art to add to their collections.

Knoxville based jazz musicians Marcel Holman and FriendsSheila Gordon and David Blevinsset the tone for the evening with smoothvocals and soulful saxophone stylings. The trio’s magnetic stage presence and rich sounds promise to create the perfect atmosphere as guests mingle, dine and bid. A highlight of the evening is the chance to witnesslocal artists creating one-of-a-kind worksright before your eyes. This year’s lineup includesKris Banas(fluid paint pour),Irene Lawrence(batik painting on silk),Sita Loop(pressed flowers),Doug Moses(oil pastel burning),Mike Sandlock(glue art) andSylvia Shively (jewelry design). Their pieces are auctioned live, alongside experiences such as atour of Vicki Kinser’s horse farm, aluxury Bradford Portraits packagein Miami or New York, aMossback Distillery tour with dinner for two, covetedUT Football tickets, and a full year ofhandmade pies or seasonal wreaths. Thelive auctionis conducted byRichie BroylesofBroyles Real Estate and Auction Company.

Thesilent auctionoffers a selection of arts, experiences and gift packages. Details are available on Rose Center’s website and social media posts. Guests are also be treated to a preview of the upcoming Summer Players production, “Singin’ in the Rain, Jr.”, presented July 25, 26 & 27 at Rose Center.

Throughout the night, guests enjoy an assortment of freshly madehors d’oeuvres, including pulled pork sliders, mac-and-cheese bites, potato stacks, caprese salad and more. Acash baris also available.

The event is curated by theArtists Advisory Council, whose vision and passion continue to enrich our creative community. This committee, composed ofPeggy Brewer, Dan Gibson, Vicki Kinser, Deirdre McAdams and Debra Williams, along with volunteerSarah Gratz, Susan Worley,Christa Lunsford,Steph Swift, Hal Drury and Cookie Larkin have planned for weeks to create this special fundraiser.
