Big Stone Gap, VA.Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park announces their Children’s Summer Music Camp. The camp seeks to preserve Appalachian Mountain music heritage by offering classes in fiddle, old-time banjoand guitar.
The camp will begin Tuesday, July 7,and runs through Thursday, July 9, from 9 a.m. until noon, and serves students ages 7 to 12. Youth who participate in this camp will not only be offered classes in musical instruments but will play musical games, learn musical trivia and have a fun-filled three days of music fun. On Thursday, an awards ceremony will be held. Each student receives a certificate. The students’ families are invited to a small reception after the ceremony.
A fee of $30 per child covers all supplies and a snack each day. The park provides the instruments. Seating is limited, so register by Friday, July 3.
