Porché Pottery & Arts to Open in Erwin

Local artists Kerry and Catherine Porché announce the opening ofPorché Pottery & Arts, a new communityart studio located at307 Union Street in downtown Erwin, Tennessee. The studio hosts anOpen House,Oct. 3–4 during the Unicoi County Apple Festival, with a formalGrand Opening to follow in November.

Alongside scheduled classes and workshops, Porché Pottery & Arts will introduce amembership program, allowing community members access to studio space, tools, and equipment for independent creative work. There will also be a gallery shop that will feature regional artists and work for purchase.

Kerry Porché brings more than25 years of experience working in clayalong with both formal training and practical studio practice. He holds aBachelor of Arts from Louisiana State Universityand aMaster of Fine Arts from Ohio University, and he completed aninternship with renowned North Carolina potter Matt Jones, where he further refined his craft. Kerry will lead pottery classes and private lessons for students at all levels.

Catherine Porché, who also holds aBachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University, will teach a variety ofpainting classes for all ages, ranging from beginner-friendly instruction to more advanced workshops.

“We are thrilled to open a welcoming space for art in Erwin,” said Kerry and Catherine Porché. “Our mission is to share our passion, teach with care, and create opportunities for people of all ages to learn, explore,have fun,and grow through the arts.”
