#PouncePunk22 on display in Abingdon

Art Lab at William King Museum of Art in Abingdon, Virginia, is featuring a new exhibition in its Community & Education Gallery.“#PouncePunk22,”on display Monday, May 16 — Friday, June 30, is an exhibition curated by local artists, Brett Cook of Bristol, Virginia, and Richard Graves of Abingdon, Virginia. This exhibition features select works by a variety of creators from an art challenge that began on social media.

In February 2022, Cook and Graves collaborated to organize a daily art challenge to engage others and buildcommunity. Artists of all skill levels working across all mediums were invited to participate via Facebook,Instagramand other platforms by sharing posts of creative responses to daily prompts determined by Cookand Graves. Prompts themes included “power,”“emotion,”“home,”“glitch” and “horror”and were interpretedthrough media including photography, painting, digital art, danceand writing. The #PouncePunk22 gainedboth local and international participants, with nearly 2,000 posts using the challenge hashtag by the end of themonth. The exhibit, #PouncePunk22 features reproductions of original art selected from these posts to represent the prompts from each day in February. Works will be on display in Art Lab at William King Museum of Art through Friday, June 30.
