"Shine" is at Barter

Barter Theatre’s Black Stories Black Voices initiative will present its third annual evening of storytelling, SHINE: Illuminating Black Stories April 21, at 7 p.m. at Barter's Gilliam Stage. Admission is free.Reserve tickets online or by calling the box office at 276-628-3991.

SHINE is an annual evening of storytelling that explores Black experiences in Appalachia, curated by Barter’s Black Stories Black Voices. Using prompts derived from the local Black community and Appalachian region, Black playwrights from across the country submit original monologues to be performed and directed by Barter’s resident artists.

SHINE always provides an unforgettable experience to audiences, and Barter hopes the public willjoin themin celebrating the Black stories, voices, and histories of theregion.

About Barter Theatre: Barter Theatre, the nation’s longest running professional theater, is located in Abingdon, Virginia. The theateropened in 1933 during the Great Depression.
