'Stitch in Time' exhibit at C Bascom Slemp Library

BIG STONE GAP, VA. — The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park announces a new “Stitch in Time” rotating exhibit at the C. Bascom Slemp Library in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. This rotating exhibit will be on display April 1 until May 31.

This exhibit features a collection of the museum’s vintage quilt squares and sewing items. Quilting has long been a mainstay of Appalachian culture and this tradition still continues in Appalachia today. Quilts take us back to a more genteel time and each quilt has their own story to tell.

Admission is free. The Stitch in Time rotating exhibit may be viewed during library opening hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30 a.m. -5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday11 a.m. -7:30 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. — 2 p.m.
