GREENEVILLE– An award-winning photographer from the region whose images have appeared on covers and in publications such as Art Ascent International Magazineshows her work during an upcoming exhibit atTusculum University.

Leanne Trivette S. present the exhibition “The Dual Breath” Monday, Sept. 15-Friday, Oct. 24, in theClem Allison Gallery, which is located inside Annie Hogan Byrd Fine Arts Center. Tusculum’sCenter for the Artsholds a reception Thursday, Sept. 25, from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. Visiting the exhibition and attending the reception are free and open to the community.

Trivette S. describes the show as a visual exploration of the delicate balance of inner and outer worlds and calls it a profound reflection on duality through a feminine lens. She said the project reveals the spectrum of identity with self-portraiture that spans quiet and concealed depths of internal difficulties and secret emotions to vivid and joyful expressions of one’s external self.

“We are delighted to host this thought-provoking and well-designed exhibit,” said Benjamin Conley, assistant professor of art and design and the gallery’s director. “Leanne produces outstanding work, and our guests will enjoy looking at the photographs and examining her techniques. This exhibit represents another outstanding example of the Center for the Arts presenting a quality exhibit that enriches the lives of those who view it.”

As she reflects on the exhibit, Trivette S. shares that monochrome images will invite viewers to descend into the deepest stillness of shadow and silence. That consists of a concealed world where vulnerability and enigma come together in delicate harmony. The portraits explore healing and survival and invite resilience.

Next to those images will be other photographs in which color bursts as a celebration of life’s exuberance, Trivette S. explains. Those images will reveal a vibrant outer self that engages boldly with the world, she notes. Trivette S. details that color serves as a veil that reveals and hides an exquisite mask that holds unseen scars, nonetheless projecting strength and vitality.

The Dual Breath’ calls guests to embrace the tension and harmony of duality, to experience the profound dance between introspection and expression,” she said. “It challenges you to hold both breaths – the inward pull of reflection and the outward surge of joy – and, in doing so, to witness the raw, unfiltered beauty of a soul fully alive, complex and fiercely whole.”

Trivette S. uses photography as a method for self-inquiry, emotional resonance and lyrical storytelling. Her pieces touch on self-portraiture, experimental florals, abstraction and emotion. She loves transformation. Her techniques include intentional camera movement, blur, layering and multiple exposures.

“I am drawn to both the narrative and the pause, and the in-betweens that often say the most,” she said. “With my camera as compass, I trace the intricate edges of my inner world seeking the moments where emotion spills into form. In every piece of my art, I hope to build a bridge – one that reaches from the depths of my inner world to the heart of the viewer, where vulnerability meets vision and self-recognition and humanity are reflected.”

Other places where Trivette S.’s photographs have appeared include SHOTS Magazine,Humana Obscura and Black and White Magazine. She has received multiple international photography honors, such as three times in the Julia Margaret Cameron Awards as well as in the Digital Photo Awards and Great Photo Awards.
