Instead, he wrote one of the most enduring popular short stories ever written. In one ghostly Christmas night, miserly businessman Ebenezer Scrooge discovers the limitations of his life and beliefs. He learns to pity himself and to love his neighbor – but is that enough? David Edgar’s critically acclaimed adaptation of Charles Dickens’ much-loved classic, A Christmas Carol played in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in 2017, then returned for 2018 and 2022.” (RSC.org)
In this stage adaptation that will have you discovering so much more to the story, Dan Gray plays miser Ebenezer Scrooge, Joey Collard portrays Charles Dickens, and James Francis is his editor, John Forster. Scrooge's once business partner, Jacob Marley, is played by Richard Albright. Dani Freeman is Bob Cratchit, Mary Ellis Rice is Mrs. Cratchit, and Amalia Hubbard is Tim Cratchit.

Directing the Royal Shakespeare Company’s stage version of the Dickens’ classic "AChristmasCarol"is Theatre Bristol veteran director, Glenn Patterson, with recent credits of "The Sound of Music,""Into the Woods,""Scrooge! The Musical,""Fiddler on the Roof"and "Disney’s Beauty and the Beast."Patterson is supported by the creative team of production designer Camille Gray, props artisan Rebecca Ryan, technical director and special effects technician Albert Tester, stage manager Nicole Intagliata, assistant production designer Zaiah Gray, ASMs Ann Vance, Terra White and Bethaney Hilt, Sound Designer/Light Operator Jessica Gamble, Lightboard operator Carly Street, and Wrangler Everild Blackburn,along with Theatre Bristol crew,and the producer is Samantha Gray.
A Christmas Carol opens Nov. 17, and runs for five weekends at The Theatre Bristol ARTspace, 506 State Street, Bristol, Tennessee, Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m., closing Dec. 17. Tickets are $12 for adults plus fees ($13.50 total) and $10 for seniors and students plus fees ($11.50 total), and are available attheatrebristol.org/tickets.
