July 30, 2023

The Appalachian Performing Arts Academy, Bristol, Tennessee, announces the introduction of four innovative courses aimed at nurturing storytelling and performance skills. The academy is also offering a free 15-minute phone consultation to help potential students choose the best course for them and tailor their learning journey.

Designed for all levels, from beginners to advanced learners, the courses offer a blend of writing, acting, improvisation, and performance coaching. Michael Gerber, artistic director, serves as the expert instructor for several of these courses, bringing his extensive knowledge and experience to guide students.

The course roster includes:

Your Life. Your Story: A transformative two-part course that assists students in converting their personal experiences into compelling monologues for live performance.

Dive into Comedy Improv: A one-day intensive workshop that introduces participants to the world of spontaneous storytelling and humor.

Physical Comedy and Stage Combat 101: A one-day, three-hour intensive course that offers a safe, guided introduction to the world of physical comedy and stage combat.

Long-Form Comedy Improv: This one-day, three-hour intensive course focuses on long-form improv, perfect for budding and seasoned actors seeking a deeper understanding of comedic acting.

In addition, APAA offers personalized coaching sessions tailored to each student’s needs, helping to amplify their voice and unlock their potential.

“Each of these courses and coaching sessions are designed to empower individuals to express their unique voices and stories in an authentic, compelling manner,” says Michael Gerber. “We believe in the power of personalized learning experiences and are committed to guiding each participant in their creative journey.”
