May 21, 2026   |   6 pm @ Johnson City Public Library

JOHNSON CITY – Johnson City Public Library is hosting romance author Dawn BanksThursday, May 21 at 6 p.m. in the library’s Jones Meeting Center.

Ages 18 and older will hear Banks talk about the writing and publishing journey of her debut novel, “The Spreadsheet Situation,” which was published in 2025. Her book will be for sale at the event, and she will sign copies afterward. Banks’ second book, “The Boyfriend Setup,” will be released this June.

Banks said she chooses to write and read romance because she likes stories that make her laugh, and “romance novels have laughter in abundance.”

“Romance is a genre that centers on joy, hopefulness and characters who are figuring out how to be the best versions of themselves,” she said. “That’s what I hope readers find in my books. If ‘The Spreadsheet Situation’ is remembered for being a fun, hopeful story, then I’ve done what I set out to do.”

In addition to writing romance novels, Banks is an academic librarian. She lives in Tennessee with her family and two cats. Learn more about Banks atdawnbankswriter.com,and find her extended interview with the library atjcpl.org/news.
