'Flowers for Algernon' is on stage

• OCT. 23-26:Johnson County High School Playerspresents“Flowers for Algernon”at Heritage Hall Theatre, Mountain City, Tenn. This is the story of Charlie, a mentally disabled man, and the interweaving of his life with Algernon, a mouse. Experimental surgery has increased Algernon’s intelligence fourfold. The operation is tried on Charlie, who rapidly changes from a moron to a genius. As Charlie approaches the peak of his brilliance, Algernon shows frightening symptoms of regression. The play become a race against time in which Charlies tries to keep his new intelligence long enough to save himself and continue the love he has found with his teacher, Alice.
