Morristown, TN –Rose Center welcomes internationally acclaimed guitaristHiroyaTsukamoto Friday, May 3, for a day of music,made possible by the East Tennessee Foundation.Hiroya leads an informal guitar masterclass beginning at 3 p.m.,followed by an evening performance at 7p.m.,as part of the Live at Rose Center concert series.
Theguitar masterclassoffers guitarists a rare opportunity to learn from one of the world’s finest fingerstyle players in a relaxedandsupportive setting.The class is open to ages 12 and up, is designed for players with basic chord knowledge, and covers topics such as tone, rhythm, thumb placement, improvisationand practice techniques. Tsukamoto’s instruction is known for clarity, patienceand warmth. Starting at7 p.m., Tsukamoto takes the stageinPrater Hallfor his concert,“A Journey Through Strings and Stories.”As agraduate of Berklee College of Music, his blend of fingerstyle guitar and spoken word has been featured on stages like the Blue Note in New York City, Japanese National Television (NHK), United Nations, and International Storytelling Center. His performances have been praised by Acoustic Guitar Magazine as “delicate, fluid, and beautifully detailed,” and described by the Boston Herald as “an impressionistic journey.”
