The Johnson City Public Library holds a variety of events during the upcoming week.
Wednesday, Feb. 12
- Mo Willems Birthday Celebration (Ages 19 months-5 years) 11-11:30 a.m. Celebrate beloved children's book author with puppets, skits and songs, offered in place of regular weekly storytime.
Thursday, Feb. 13
- Computer Class: Skills to Succeed(Ages 18+) 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn basics of internet, email and social media for career networking and applying for jobs.
- 2020 Census Job Recruitment(Ages 18+) 3-5 p.m. Info table & Census Bureau representatives set up in lobby to talk about censusjobs.
- Book Worms:Rhino in the House( Ages 5-8) 6:15-7 p.m. Registration required.
- Spanish-InglésConversation(All ages) 6-7 p.m. All language skill levels, converse with Spanish and English speakers. Hablarconhablantesdeinglésyespañol, paratodosniveleseedades.
Friday, Feb. 14
- Teen Writing Club( Ages 12-18) 3:30-4:30 p.m. Work on creative writing projects in teen area, learn how to get work published on library website.
Saturday, Feb. 15
- READing Paws(Ages 5-9 and caregivers) 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Register for 15-minute time slot to read to trained listening dog.
Monday, Feb. 17
- Tale to Tail(Ages 5-9 & caregivers) 4-5, 5:15-6:15 p.m. Register for 15-minute time slot to read to trained listening dog.
- Evening Preschool Story time( Ages 3-5 & caregivers) 6:30-7 p.m. Same as Tuesday and Wednesday story times, children can wear pajamas.
Tuesday, Feb. 18
- Toddler Time(Ages 18-36 months and caregivers) 10:15-10:45 a.m.
- Preschool Story time(Ages 3-5 years and caregivers) 11-11:30 a.m.
- VA Homeless Programs Assistance(Ages 18+) 12:30-1:30 p.m. VA community outreach social worker available to talk with U.S. veterans about short- and long-term housing programs.
- Taller Literario / Spanish Literary Club(Ages 18+) 6-7 p.m. Must have at least intermediate skill level, discussions in Spanish of classic and modern Spanish literature, registration required.(Mayores de 18 años) 6-7 p.m. Debe tener al menos habilidades intermedias, discusiones en Español de literatura Española clásica y moderna, se require registro.
- Blind Date with a Book(Ages 12-18) 6-7:30 p.m. Choose wrapped books based on short descriptions and read, registration required.
- Titles on Tap at JRH Brewing(Ages 18+) 6:30-8 p.m. Sample book "flights" with help from librarians and check out library books while enjoying JRH'scraft beers, JRH located at 458 W. Walnut St.
