Since Joseph’s appointment to Poet Laureate of Knoxville, in August of 2023, Woods has captivated audiences with his rhythmic storytelling, sharp humorand thoughtful lyricism, rooted in his Gullah Geechee heritage. Woods’ 30-year career, sharing original pieces like “Diamond Dust” in public forums, reflects his commitment to healing, cultural preservationand the emotional resonance of language.
