Marble City Opera kicks off its 13th season Sunday, Sept. 14, at 3p.m. with a concert titled Baritones, Boots, & Bats. The performance is inside historic Cherokee Caverns, where the temperature is always 58° and the acoustics are excellent. Tickets for the concert are $25 and are on sale at MarbleCityOpera.com/tickets.
Maurice Hendricks, Daniel Spiottaand Joel Brown sing a program of opera and musical theater favorites. The baritones are accompanied by pianist Dustin Lin. Spiotta recently performed as “Silvio” and in Marble City Opera’s production of "Pagliacci." Hendricks sang the role of “Talpa” in Marble City Opera’s site-specific performances of "Il Tabarro" in 2024.
Historic Cherokee Caverns is located at 8524 Oak Ridge Highway in Knoxville. The caverns are preserved and maintained by a group of dedicated volunteers. The cave is only open for special events including Marble City Opera’s concerts, classic family movies, Trick or Treat in the Caveand Christmas in the Cave.
This will be the fourth time that Marble City Opera has presented a concert inside Cherokee Caverns. Social media comments after last year’s concert included, “What a wonderful and truly unique experience,” and “This was so fun.”
Marble City Opera brings world class singers, directorsand conductors to the stage while maintaining a dedication to creating opportunities for local, regionaland emerging artists. Marble City Opera is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with strong community ties and connections to other organizations, businesses, schoolsand artists within Knoxville, and the East Tennessee community.
