ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. — The Bonnie Kate Theater is bringing a beloved tradition back to downtown Elizabethton with Classic Cinema Sunday, a recurring Sunday matinee series featuring classic films every Sunday at 2 p.m.
The series begins Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10,, at 2 p.m., with the much-loved film "Steel Magnolias" as the opening Classic Cinema Sunday presentation.
Rooted in the nostalgia of the historic movie house experience, Classic Cinema Sunday invites audiences to return to the Bonnie Kate for the simple pleasure of gathering together, watching timeless stories on the big screenand making Sunday afternoons feel like an event again.
“This is not just about showing movies,” the theater said. “It is about bringing a Sunday tradition home — the lights going down, the screen coming alive,and the community sharing a story together in a theater built for exactly that.”
Located in the heart of downtown Elizabethton, the revitalized Bonnie Kate Theater continues its role as a cultural anchor for the region. Alongside the new Sunday matinee series, regular movie programming will also continue on Saturdays at 7p.m. under The Movie House banner.
