The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park hosts its last “Lunch on the Lawn” summer music series of the 2026 season Friday, Sept.18, from 12 to 1 p.m., featuring Tommy Bright.

Bright is a multi-instrumentalist from Wise County, Virginia, with a deep appreciation for Appalachian music and a broad range of musical traditions. He performs throughout the region with multiple groups, most recently contributing acting and recorded music for Shreds & Patches’ production of Tuck Everlasting. He also served as the music director for the 63rd season of "The Trail of theLonesome Pine." His band, Low Mileage Bluegrass, is looking forward to performing at this year’s Fall Fling in Wise, Virginia.

During each “Lunch on the Lawn” event, park staff and volunteers provide crafts and activities for children. Families are invited to enjoy a relaxing afternoon with homegrown music and live entertainment on the museum lawn. In the event of inclement weather, the event takes place in the museum’s Victorian Parlor.

The program is free and open to everyone. No registration is required. Participants must bring their own lunch.
