VI Photo Students Put Skills to Work

BRISTOL, VA - Five Virginia Intermont College photography students are working this summer to refine their skills in the real world, while making a contribution to national and community
organizations.

Josh Weilepp, a junior from Springfield, Va., is interning with the Smithsonian
Institution's Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. LeAnne Harrington, a sophomore
from Blountville, Tenn., is capturing the Bristol White Sox this summer. Bristol, Va., junior
Jonathan McCoy is also helping out with the Sox, although his official internship is with the
Kingsport Times-News shooting sports and general news events. Paige Barbush, a senior
from Harrisburg, Pa., is the official photographer for Abingdon's Virginia Highlands Festival.
Aleesa Cahill, a senior from Riverhead, N.Y., is working at Seacamp, a non-profit, marine
science education facility located on Big Pine Key in the tropical Florida Keys that operates a
marine science/SCUBA camp for teenagers. Cahill is teaching beginner and advanced classes
in the techniques of photographing friends, wildlife and underwater images to teens attending
camp this summer.
