'Sleeping Beauty and the Seven Sisters' is on stage in Knoxville

Knoxville Children’s Theatre presents a live production of “Sleeping Beauty & the Seven Sisters.” Based on the timeless fairy tale by Charles Perrault and the script by Zack Allen, the play brings the fairy tale to life on stage.

The play is performed Sept. 15 — Oct. 1, Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 1 and 5 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m.

Allen’s adaptation reboots the classic story amidst the color and pageantry of Baroque era France. The happy life of Briar-Rose is interrupted by a curse from one of the Seven Wise Sisters of Fountainbleau which sendsBriar Rose into a deep sleep. Can an ancient wizard and a young soldier come to her rescue with some magic of their own?

The play is performed by 14 young actors and designed by 14 young designers from ages 9 to 15. KCT veteran Luna Chavez plays Briar Rose with Tinsley Clinton, Fern Datillo, Saha Lau, Zaide Otis, Emily Rowe, Isabella Summers, and Layne Templeton playing the seven sisters. The cast also includes KCT veterans Jenna Blumberg, Weston Bucher, Lena Kennedy, Julia Lance, Karter Spalvinsand Connor Watters.

The show is directed by Artistic Director Dennis Perkins with assistant student director Evie Braude. Addison White and Gabby Cla?inprovides the scenic design with assistance from Amerie Wrinkle, Chloe Beeler, Madalyn Fletcher, and Ella Straussfogel. The costume design is provided by Lily Segars with assistance from Lyric Wester?eld-Dyer and Scarlett Cooper. Truman Ball provides the lighting design. The properties are designed by Annabel Dattilo, Evelyn Strangward, Addy Kate Thomasand Zeb Brockman. Michelle Phelps isrun crew for the production. The play’s stage manager is Janie Long and assistant stage manager is Callie Houk. KCT is East Tennessee’s leading producer of plays for children and families.
