'Wizard of Oz' is on stage

Bristol Ballet presents “Wizard of Oz”Saturday, May 9 at noon and 5:30 p.m.at the Paramount Bristol. Follow the Yellow Brick Road to downtown Bristol as Bristol Ballet puts its own spin on the familiar story. The music, storylineand characters will be recognized as they dance their way to the Emerald City to help Dorothy find her way home.

Bristol Ballet’s “Wizard of Oz” draws inspiration from L. Frank Baum’s classic tale, as well as the blockbuster 1939 film. You might also recognize a musical cameo of a song from the popular Broadway show and movie "Wicked."

The performance features high tech digital displays along with classical ballet and traditional characters and sets. The show’s cast is made up of Bristol Ballet’s students, the Bristol Ballet performing company, guest artists, and community members.

Bristol Ballet is also partnering with the Animal Shelter of Sullivan County for a special themed event: the Find your own Toto dog adoption event. There will be adoptable dogs available to meet and adopt before and after the noon show of Bristol Ballet's "Wizard of Oz" Saturday, May 9.
